E-Commerce Transformation at ECF Group
At ECF Group, Europe's leading distributor of small equipment and consumables for the Hospitality and Catering sectors, we embarked on a mission to transform our e-commerce capabilities. With nearly 140 years of expertise, we recognized the need to improve our product management and online presence to better serve our 60,000 clients across 12 countries. Partnering with Dn’D Agency, we set out to centralize our data using Akeneo PIM and revamp our Chomette website with Adobe Commerce (Magento).
Fixing Product Hierarchy and Catalog Management
Managing an extensive product catalog of over 40,000 items posed significant challenges. Our existing PIM system was outdated, leading to inefficiencies in product listings and data management. We needed a solution that could handle the complexity of our product hierarchy and ensure clear, accurate listings for all 90K products. Additionally, we faced the task of upgrading our PIM from version 5.0 to 6.0 while maintaining data integrity during the transition.
Implementing Akeneo PIM for Better Data Management
To address these challenges, we utilized Akeneo PIM to reconstruct our product catalog and hierarchy. We added all necessary attribute types for each product to ensure clarity in listings. Drafting functional and technical specifications was crucial for updating Akeneo PIM effectively. We also implemented a ticket tracking strategy for TMA to streamline issue resolution and prepared rigorous testing phases to transfer data from the old version to the new seamlessly.
Leveraging Advanced Tools for Seamless Integration
Our project relied on several advanced tools to achieve success. We managed merge requests efficiently and created detailed data mappings between CEGID and AKENEO systems. Compiling a comprehensive reference table helped us maintain consistency across platforms. Furthermore, we developed a robust mapping system for inter-system transcoding, ensuring smooth data flow between different systems. By focusing on clear actions and concrete solutions, we improved our e-commerce operations significantly. This transformation not only enhanced our internal processes but also provided a better experience for our clients and partners, reinforcing ECF Group's position as a leader in the industry.
